FUE

It can be very tedious because an FUE hair restoration method requires each follicle to be removed individually before a Follicular Unit Transplant is performed. Instead of dealing only with a few follicles at a time, the surgeon will deal with individual follicles.

FUE uses a 0.8mm to 1.0mm surgical incision to remove the hair follicles. To ensure that the FUE process is done correctly, the patient must have his head completely shaved in order to access the donor area.

The surgeon collects and properly stores the grafts. Next, he prepares the area for transplantation. He or she aims to artistically place the grafts so that they look natural. To achieve the desired effect, the surgeon carefully places the grafts into the transplant area.

FUE offers surgeons the opportunity to remove individual follicles, and place them in a way that enhances the final result.

FAQs

Q HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Standard FUE involves approximately 800 to 2,000 grafts and would take about 10 hours to complete. If the procedure involved more than 2,000 grafts, a longer period of surgery would be required (either one day or more).

Q WHAT ARE THE LIMITS?

A skilled surgeon will limit the number of grafts performed in a single session to approximately 2,500. However, no more than 3,000 should be done. The general consensus is to limit the number of FUEs processed to no more than 5,000 units in a single session. This will preserve the effect of minimal scarring.
