About clinic:

Why choose Westminster Clinic?

The Westminster Clinic is run by Dr Rogers, the Medical Director. He is assisted by a friendly and experienced staff both clinically as well as administratively. Rogers personally trains his staff of technicians and doctors.

Dr Rogers has more than 25 years of experience in hair transplantation. He was the first to introduce the FUE technique as well as the trichophytic closure to the UK in 2003.

We are committed to quality, not price. This is why we don’t try to beat other clinics on hair transplant costs – we want to do the best hair transplant surgery possible, not cut corners.

One hair transplant procedure is usually performed per day. We keep that patient as our sole focus and take as long as necessary. We won’t rush to see another patient. Some may offer lower prices, but then we can’t afford the time and quality that’s required to perform a high-quality hair transplant.

Dr Rogers is usually the one who consults and Dr Rogers plans the hair transplant surgery. Only he knows what’s possible.

Great experience

We have a reputation for our excellent results and outstanding service, with over 5000 hair transplants successfully performed. To provide the highest level of clinical excellence in hair restoration, our team of doctors and technicians is highly qualified and overseen personally by Dr Rogers. We are now a London-based hair loss clinic. However, we were previously called Rogers Medical. Our office headquarters is in Stratford on Avon.

Private hair consultations with our hair transplant surgeons take only 30 minutes and cost just PS75. Contrary to other clinics, consultations are not charged as you consult with a doctor and not a sales representative. This is especially important for those who have had prior surgery or are young or have had old-style punch grafts. Dr Rogers is an expert in fixing hair transplants that have failed. He will sometimes perform pro bono hair grafts, and sometimes the NHS will cover the costs.

If you’re serious about getting a hair transplant, we recommend that you visit us. Only the doctor who will actually perform the procedure can give you an accurate recommendation. If you are looking for a UK-based hair transplant surgeon and care more about natural quality, we recommend that you schedule a consultation to get all the information you need on hair loss and transplantation.

About follicular unit extraction – FUE hair transplant.

FUE stands to Follicular Unit Extract, also known as FIT (Cit, FUSE), FUSE, DHI, FUSE and FUSE) techniques. The technique uses a microscopic punch, which removes each hair graft individually in much the same manner an apple corer does. FUE is still a new technique and was only established in the early 20th century. There is still much to be done in this area. It has its advantages and disadvantages like all things. Sometimes it depends on the patient’s preferences or characteristics. After discussing the matter with other doctors at the 2003 New York ISHRS Conference, we performed our first FUE in 2003. Particularly, Dr Robert Jones and Dr Alan Feller proved to be very helpful.

FUE is a new extraction method for hair transplants. However, the technique of inserting grafts is the same. This doesn’t mean that the grafts will grow faster or can be placed closer. FUE is not a “hair cloning” method. It is also not invisible or free from surgery. However, it is a useful adjunct treatment that may be the best option for hair transplantation for some patients.

The donor area will be the same in most cases (although this is the preferred method for body hair HT). Although the scalp hair is generally shaved, it is sometimes possible to just shave the donor area or leave the recipient site longer. The scalp is then numbed and the patient lies down on something similar. A FUE punch, which can be used either by hand or electric handle, is used to “score” the hairs to a specified depth (approximately 2mm) and angle. Before re-implantation, the hair is “plucked out” with forceps. You can damage the hair by getting the “pull”, depth, or angle wrong. It is expensive and slow because of this. Although it is possible to create “robotic FUE,” they aren’t as effective as a skilled person and don’t make it more affordable, but may be a bit faster.

Non shaven u FUE – New!

You can perform the non-shaven FUE, or U-FUE as it is also known.

The simplest method is probably the most efficient. This involves separating hair into sections and trimming it into narrow strips. It is the most common way to do it and it results in high-quality extractions and regrowth.

Another option is to use a special slotted tool to run FUE. This is a slow method.

You can also ignore the hair and assume that the sharp punch will cut through the hair. Then you can extract FUE as usual. However, long hair can alter the angulation and blunt the punch very quickly.

FAQs

Q What if you have an itchy flakey scalp, would the procedure still work? And does this condition cause hair loss? Do you have to have long hair in the area you will be taking hair out of?

Hair transplantation is not usually affected by dandruff or other problems. Hair doesn't need to be long. A clipper grade 4 is acceptable.

Q Is their a certain age you need to be to qualify for a hair transplant?

No age limit - we have done surgery on patients ranging from 17 to 83! We recommend that you wait until 25 to get hair transplants. Propecia is used to stabilize hair loss.

Q Can shaving the head cause hair loss? Or wearing hats?

Shaving does not cause hair loss. It only affects the appearance of the visible hair shaft. Hair loss is unlikely to occur with most hair products. Many people ask about hats. However, recent research suggests that hat wearers have a lower risk of hair loss than men who don't wear them.

Q How many grafts can be taken from the back of the head?

Most people will see between 5 and 7 000 in their lifetime. This usually takes a lot of sessions.

Q When will I see growth?

The hair bulb will go into a dormant stage after the grafts have been placed. It then starts to grow again in 12 weeks. Some hairs may grow faster than others, but most hairs will have grown by 6 months. Many people will book their next session.

Q How long does hair transplant surgery take?

The procedure usually takes between 3-4 hours, but it can take longer if there are more than 1000 grafts. You are not confined to a chair for that long. After taking the strip, we give you 15 minutes to relax in the patient's area. We then bring you back in for the placement of the grafts. Westminster Clinic makes this a very pleasant experience for patients. There's no sense of urgency.
